Tips On Selecting The Right Corporate Gift For Customers

by Cherry Murray on November 7, 2009

A very popular and highly effective way of exhibiting how much you appreciate your customer is to present him with a corporate gift. Presenting gifts occasionally to demonstrate how grateful the organization is to the customer helps a great deal in forging strong relations between the customer and the company. Given how important they are, you should keep a few points in mind while selecting the gifts.

First of all the objective of the gift has to be understood – whether the gift is to show gratitude to the client for his loyalty, to commemorate the completion of a long and successful project, or for some other objective. For instance, promotional gifts which have a clear marketing angle should be presented if your objective is to attract a potential client to your company. If this is what you are trying to attain then items such as pens or mugs embossed with your logo can make a lasting impression.

If the client has been using the services of the company for a long time, then the gift has to be chosen from an entirely different perspective. These customers need more focus on detail, which means that their preferences have to be taken into account when selecting a gift. You can also demonstrate how much you value your association with the client by giving a plaque, which is always very effective.

You should remember that the same gift must not be given again to the same customer. A repetitive gift can in no way have the same impact on a customer. For example, if a calendar has already been gifted to a client, the next time go for something different like a pen stand. But ensure that the gift is always attractive and has some utility.

A low quality gift reflects badly on the company, so you must never overlook this significant aspect. However, you should keep the expenditure on the gift in mind as well. Your budget must not be exceeded simply because you ended up buying an expensive gift. This generates false expectations and may harm future relations with the customer.
